Professor Tim Brown, past AMSI Director
AMSI’s Vacation Research Scholarship program has been run successfully since 2003–04. The program funds second- and third-year undergraduates across Australia to complete a six-week mathematical sciences research project over their summer break.
Vacation Research Scholars experience life as researchers while they work closely with a supervisor to complete their projects. As the end of their summer of research approaches, they present their findings in February at the exclusive VRS student conference AMSIConnect. To complete the program, they write up their findings in a formal research report and prepare a blog post to develop their science-communication skills and experience in scientific writing for broader audiences.
